Are you all proud of me?? I am here again, blogging away, as promised!! Obviously the novelty hasn't quite worn off as yet, hehe. Once I got to bed last night (this morning!) I managed to rouse James enough to tell him that I had begun our blog to which he replied a vague "Eerrggghhh?" and rolled over once again- but I think I almost now have him convinced that he should make a post. Bets are on to see when (if?) that will actually happen!!
So what's our recent news? First of all I suppose should elaborate on our US trip coming up, because for a while there it was touch and go as to whether we would actually make it- the want was absolutely there, but the finance factor was something of an issue and one that I wasn't completely convinced we could get around. I was chatting to my good friend Emily about this, and bemoaning the fact that inevitably (or so it seemed) we would be forced to surrender the fantasy of returning to the US, that the purse strings had gotten the better of us, and that the money gods just weren't looking favourably upon us.... so she, being the wonderful friend she is (and probably for her own sake to cease my whinging on the subject) got online and found some cheap flights for us... and after some further investigation and planning, we were able to book within 2 days! So we went from thinking that it just wasn't going to happen, to it definitely happening- and it's still difficult for us to get our heads around, to be honest! We're leaving Adelaide on the 17th of December and then leave the US on the 12th of January, arriving back in Adelaide on the 14th (due to the time difference etc).
Now we just have to get ourselves extra organised... for example, I just remembered to get my passport details changed to reflect my married name, and we have to do something about organising our girls (ie: the cats) for the duration of our absence. I think my friend Tamara might be keen to house sit for us, but that is still to be worked out. Sooo, YAY! It's all happening, and it's totally given James and I something to look extra forward to. I haven't seen James' family since 2003 (except for him mum who visited us for a short time in February of this year) so I am really excited about seeing them, doing more sightseeing and having a decent holiday- and a paid holiday at that!! And of course, not only are we now able to celebrate Rob and Maria's wedding on New Year's Eve, we will also be able to celebrate Christmas and James' Grandfather's 80th birthday while we're away, so it will be a very special time. James will be measured for his suit for the wedding THIS WEEK if my "gentle encouragement" has anything to do with it, haha.
Today is just a stunning day, it's still meant to be winter here, but lately we have had gorgeous weather- it's been quite warm, and right now the sun is shining and it's 20 degrees celcius- about 68 degrees for all of you fahrenheit people. I just went out and quickly took this pic looking down the left side of our street. Pandora and Ruby looove being outside- in weather like this Dora is usually on the roof, so it's a rare moment for her feet to be touching the ground!
One more pic since it's probably been a while anyone has seen very recent photographs of James and I: taken at Emily and Matt's a few weeks ago, this was taken early on in what was to become a VERY big night (and one that I paid the price severely for the next day!) James, as usual, is hamming it up for the camera!
So I guess I should be getting back to my perfunctory duties being the domestic goddess that I am (said with my tongue firmly in my cheek!)... it's my day off, but it's only my day off from PAID work!! Actually, I might attack the garden with reckless abandonment since it is such beautiful weather- I guess I can also be a gardening goddess!
